Privacy Policy

Empowered Tradie ("Empowered Tradie", "we", "us") makes a mobile assistant for tradespeople. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
1. Who this policy covers
This policy applies to the people who use our app and website:
- Account holders — the tradesperson or business that signs up (the "owner"), and any team members or apprentices they invite.
- Your customers — the end customers whose details an account holder enters into the app (e.g. name, phone, address) so we can help run their jobs. The account holder is responsible for having a proper basis to share their customers' details with us, and we act on their behalf in handling that data.
2. Information we collect

3. How we use your information
- To provide and operate the app — managing jobs, scheduling, quoting, invoicing, stock and equipment.
- To send communications on your behalf and under your control — e.g. missed-call text-backs, ETA texts, follow-ups. Every such feature has Off / Draft / Autopilot settings; nothing is sent to a customer unless you have enabled it.
- To process payments via pay-now links and to sync invoices to your accounting software where you connect it.
- To send you notifications and service messages.
- To secure, maintain, troubleshoot and improve the service.
- To meet our legal and regulatory obligations.
4. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers ("sub-processors") who help us run the app, under contracts that require them to protect it:
- Hosting & database — our cloud backend provider (Supabase), for storing your data.
- Telephony — Twilio, to send SMS and handle calls on your behalf.
- Payments — Stripe, to process pay-now link payments.
- Accounting — Xero and/or MYOB, only where you connect them, to sync invoices.
- Push notifications — Apple and Google, to deliver notifications.
- AI processing — where you use the voice/text assistant, message and call content may be processed by our AI provider to generate drafts and responses.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or safety, or as part of a business transfer.
5. Where your data is stored
Your data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure and may be processed by the providers above, some of which are located overseas. Each business's data is logically isolated using row-level security so other businesses cannot access it.
6. Security
We use measures including encryption in transit, row-level access controls, role-based access (so apprentices and staff only see what they're permitted to), and regular backups. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and to respond promptly to any incident.
7. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service, then for any period required to meet legal, tax or accounting obligations, after which we delete or de-identify it.
8. Your choices and rights
- Permissions — you can turn location, microphone, camera, contacts and notifications on or off in your device settings.
- Automation — you control whether each feature is Off, Draft or Autopilot.
- Access & correction — you can request a copy of your personal information or ask us to correct it.
- Deletion — you can ask us to delete your account and associated data, subject to legal retention requirements.
- Export — you can export your jobs, customers and invoices.

9. Children
Empowered Tradie is a business tool intended for adults (18+) and is not directed at children.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We'll post the new version here and update the date above; significant changes will be notified in-app or by email.
